An outstanding 2013-14 recruiting class grew by six-feet, eight-inches Wednesday as the Alderson Broaddus men's basketball team added junior forward Alton Tanner from Division I University of Missouri-Kansas City.
"Alton brings us size and experience and has the ability to play a few different positions," said Head Coach Greg Zimmerman. "With his length, he should be a good rebounder and scorer inside and from the perimeter."
Tanner played in 16 contests last season, started three games and averaged 13 minutes a game for the Roos. He tallied a season-high 10 points on 4-of-7 shooting versus Western Illinois.
He spent the 2011-12 season at Tyler Junior College in Texas and averaged eight points and seven rebounds a game.
He was an elite recruit out of James E. Taylor High School in Houston, Texas. Tanner averaged 17 points and eight boards in a senior season capped with a First Team All-District nod.
Tanner was ranked the No. 82 recruit in the state of Texas by Rivals.com and No. 8 at his position in the city of Houston out of high school.
