Delmer W. "DJ" Rogers, Jr., 59, a resident of Elkins, passed away Tuesday Aug. 6, 2013, at his home.
He was born May 18, 1954 at Petersburg, a son of Waneda B. Crites Rogers, who survives in Petersburg, and the late Delmer W. Rogers, Sr. On Dec. 21, 1991 at Elkins, he was married to Nancy F. Chenoweth, who preceded him in death Aug. 3, 2009, On April 25, 2013 in Elkins, he married Wilma Jean Thompson, who survives.
Also surviving is one son, David W. Rogers and wife, Donica of Petersburg; three daughters, Leigh Anne Wagner and husband, George, and Tammy Michelle Beguinch and husband, Dave, of Glen Burnie, Md., and Kristy Rogers Rohrbaugh and husband, Matt, of Cabins, WV; three stepsons, James D. Mark of Chicago, Ill., John W. "J.W." Jones and wife. Amanda, of Elkins, and Bradley Thompson and wife, Christie, of Wendell, N.C.; two brothers, Lt. Col. Lowell Ray Rogers and wife, Marianne, of Bedford, Pa., and Dennis M. Rogers and wife, Susan, of Lahmansville; and one sister, Althea G. Teter and husband, Rick of Strasburg, Va. Also surviving are twelve grandchildren, Gavin, Addison, Alyssa, Lillian, Calei, Conner, Olivia, Maggie, Jessica, Kourtney, Kelcey and Cameron.

DJ was a 1972 graduate of Petersburg High School and a Veteran of the United States Navy. He was a graduate of the West Virginia 59th Basic Cadet Police Academy and was a former Police Chief for the city of Petersburg. He had worked for Schlumberger Oil and Gas and retired from Wal-Mart in 2011 with two million miles of safe driving record. He was the 1995 National Wal-Mart Truck Driving Rodeo Champion and was a member of the Fishers of Men, the tournament director for the Fishers of Men Legacy Series, and also was a member of the Elkins Volunteer Fire Department. He attended the Vision Worship Center in Elkins.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9, 2013, at the Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday from the funeral home chapel with Pastor Dewaine Corley and Rev. Kevin Starcher officiating. Interment will follow in the American Legion's Little Arlington Cemetery at Elkins.
