More than 20 youngsters gathered at the Mountaineer Chapter of the Izaak Walton League in Beverly Saturday to celebrate Youth Conservation Day. Participants learned about knot tying, stream survey, pelt identification, air rifles, air pistols, clay target shooting and archery. Ivan Looney-Sanders, 10, a student at Jennings Randolph Elementary School, practices his archery technique. President Bruce Evans said the purpose of the event is to encourage youth to put down their electronic games and learn to enjoy the outdoors.
