The Rock Cave CEOS Club met Aug. 6 at the Banks District Civic Center with nine members and one guest in attendance.
The meeting was called to order by Debbie Page. Jean Linger said grace. Refreshments were served to those in attendance. Pictures of the July picnic and the Upshur County Fair were passed around.
The door prize drawing was discussed. Carol Haymond motioned to discontinue the practice. It was seconded by Dolly Lloyd and passed.
The devotion, "Peace," was read by Haymond, and "The Power of Little Things, was read by Jean Linger. The flag salute followed devotions.
Betty Gribble will have a cookout today. It was announced as a reminder for the Red Hatters.
Avis Bowles took the roll call and read the July minutes. Janet Depoy motioned to accept the minutes as read. The motion was seconded by Connie Simmons. It passed. Linger gave the treasurer's report. No committee reports or correspondence were given.
Page reported that the club forgot about the July 11 county advisory board meeting. She also reported on the International Student Picnic. Page, Dora Neely and JoAnn Hawkins attended Learn 'n Return. Blankets of Hope are due by Thursday for donation to Head Start. Volunteer hours need to be turned in to the West Virginia University Extension Office by Aug. 26.
The mini-fair was discussed. A motion was made by Marianne Frederick to not participate. It was seconded by Haymond and carried. Page reported that our strawberry basket sold for $275, and we received $137.50. Page suggested changing our meeting time. Haymond motioned to change the meeting time to 6 p.m. instead of 7 p.m. It was seconded by Susie Bender and passed.
The reorganization papers were passed around. Haymond volunteered for the CEOS of the Year Committee. There were no other volunteers for that committee or any others. The club officers for 2014 are president, Debbie Page; vice president, Carol Haymond; secretary, Dolly Lloyd; and treasurer, Jean Linger. Janet Depoy made a motion to accept the slate of officers, which was seconded by Bender and passed.
Bender reported a social at the Arlington Community Building at 5 p.m. on Aug. 10.
Haymond made a motion to adjourn, which was seconded by Linger and carried. The meeting adjourned at 8:35 p.m.
