Davis & Elkins prepares for students’ arrival

August 21, 2013
The Inter-Mountain

Area residents will soon notice more traffic along Sycamore Street bound for the Davis & Elkins College campus as new and returning students, family and friends make their way back to school. Their arrival leads up to the fun-filled and informative Orientation Weekend, which will take place Saturday and Sunday.

With the theme "Leaders of Tomorrow," the New Student Orientation weekend will be packed with activities geared to acquaint students with one another and the community.

The McDonnell Center will be the site of orientation check-in and the Welcome Fair from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday. The fair gives local merchants and other guests from the Elkins area an opportunity to show the newest members of D&E's student body what they have to offer. Businesses or organizations wishing to participate may call Davis & Elkins College Assistant Director of Admission Joey VanDevender at 304-637-1230 or email him at vandevenderj@dewv.edu.

After the fair, students and their families will have a chance to meet faculty and staff at the Welcoming Picnic in the Augusta Dance Pavilion. Fair participants also will receive a pass to the picnic.
