Jeannette M. Altiere McGee, 84, of Columbus passed away Thursday, Aug. 22, 2013, at Mother Angeline McCrory Manor.
She was born on July 27, 1929 in Norton, to the late Louis and Amelia (Pratt) Altiere. A Columbus resident since 1950, she worked as a manager with the customer service department with the Kroger Co. Following retirement and always with helping hands, she became a professional community volunteer.
She was a 20-year volunteer with CAPA, a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, on the board of directors of KEMBA, a trustee for COVA, and an Aids Hospice volunteer. She was active on numerous boards and in a wide variety of organizations. She will be remembered for her energetic spirit and an infectious laugh.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Michael McGee London of Brookville; Leonard (Phyllis) McGee of Sunbury; Phillip Alan McGee of Columbus; Sheila Lynn McGee of West Palm Beach, Fla.; Janet Rife of Columbus; 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grand- children; two great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Pauline Mclaughlin and Frances Shinnaberry.
She also was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 57 years, retired Col. O. Basil McGee, who died in 2005, as well as 10 brothers and sisters.
Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Snyder-Rodman Funeral Center, 1510 W. William St. at Valleyside Dr., Delaware. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Chapel of Resurrection Cemetery, 9571 N. High St., Lewis Center, Ohio 43035, with Celebrant Father Tom Petry.
