Paula Gladwell Motter, 79, died on Aug. 15, 2013, in Olyphant, Pa., after a brief illness. She was born Sept. 8, 1933, in Alton, the daughter of the late Rexell Ford and Janet Chandler Gladwell.
She graduated from Elkins High School in 1949 and attended Emory and Henry College in Emory, Virginia for two years. She was an administrative secretary at the Coca-Cola Corporation headquarters in Columbus, Ohio, for several years before her marriage on July 25, 1964, to John Daniel Motter, a manager for that corporation.
In her later years, as a resident of Olyphant, Pa., she had a wide range of interests, but foremost was her family. She delighted in celebrating her grandchildren's birthdays, attending their school plays and other events.
The family has felt so blessed that they were able to have her present at Cindy and Scott's wedding and Scott Motisko's college graduation, both events having been celebrated in June.
Preceding her in death were her husband, John Daniel Motter, a sister, Billie Anne Gladwell Edwards and two brothers-in-law, Emerson Phares and Lt. Col. Thomas Edwards.
Surviving are three children and their spouses, John Randall Motter, of Columbus, Ohio, Victoria L. and Mike Motisko of Eynon, Pa., Scott and Cynthia Motter of Nazareth, Pa.
In addition, five beloved grandchildren survive her: Stefanie Motter Isler, Danielle Motter, Scott Motisko and Darren J. Motisko and Joley Motter.
Her sister, Patsy Gladwell Phares, of Elkins, also survives as well as several nieces and a nephew. An aunt, Ida Mae Gladwell Terry, 100, of Lynchburg, Va., also survives.
A memorial service for Paula Gladwell Motter will be held on Saturday, Sept. 7, 2013, at Indian Camp Cemetery in Alton.
