Messiah College claimed both the men's and women's titles at the 27th annual Mountain State Forest Festival Invitational held Saturday on the Davis &?Elkins College course.
The D&E men turned in a solid second-place showing as Tommy Boone placed third, Wes Anderson sixth, Matt Zorn ninth and P.J. Louzy 10th.
Messiah's Jared Schatz (29:57.35) and Cameron Shirk (20:18.99) finished first and second, respectively. Gannon's Adam Walker and Messiah's Nathaniel Pardoe rounded out the top five.

Runners from Gannon and Davis &?Elkins lead the pack in the early stages of the 27th annual Mountain State Forest Festival collegiate race Saturday on the D&E course. Messiah College captured both the men’s and women’s races on the European-style course. Messiah’s Jared Schatz won the men’s race and Gannon’s Veronica Bujdos took the women’s title. The Senators will return to action Saturday at a meet at Alderson Broaddus University.
Messiah finished with 26 points, while D&E had 47, Gannon 61, Alderson Broaddus University 116) and Fairmont State 123.
Ellen Cantaral placed seventh to lead the D&E women to a third-place effort. Ashley Cassiday, meanwhile, was 13th.
Gannon's Veronica Bujdos completed the course in a time of 22:38.49 to capture the women's individual title. She was followed by Alderson Broaddus University's Jenny Brewer, Ursuline's Nichole Burlinson, Messiah's Jennifer Bender and Gannon's Emily Reinhart to complete the top five finishers.
Messiah finished with 37 points, followed by Gannon (47), ABU (91), D&E (99), Fairmont State (104) and Glenville State (178).
D&E will travel to Alderson Broaddus University on Saturday.
