PARSONS - Tucker County's defense continued its strong early play with a 7-0 win over Northern (Md.) on Friday night.
The Mountain Lions, who recorded their second straight shutout on defense, scored the game's only points on their first possession of the night when quarterback Seth Underwood capped off an 80-yard, 13-play drive with a 16-yard run.
Tucker County had another scoring chance in the third quarter but missed a 30-yard field goal.
Underwood finished the game with 123 yards rushing on 24 attempts, while Zach Armstrong added 52 on five carries.
"Both of those guys have played well for us on offense," Mountain Lions coach A.J.?Rapp said. "Each week it seems one of them has the hot hand for us."
Tucker County finished with 200 yards on the ground on the night, while limiting Northern to 81 yards of total offense.
Both teams were plagued by turnovers on the night. Trevon Jones had 33 yards rushing for the visitors on eight attempts.
Tucker County (3-0) will travel to Moorefield next Friday for key Potomac Valley Conference matchup.
