Rock Cave CEOS hosts September meeting

September 17, 2013
The Inter-Mountain

The Rock Cave CEOS met Sept. 3 at the Banks District Civic Center with 11 members and a guest in attedance. Debbie Page called the meeting to order, and Ted Turner said grace before the refreshments were served.

Pictures of CEOS Week were passed around, including photos of our window at Ntelos that Page and Avis Bowles set up. Susie Bender read the devotion "The Bitter and Sweet," and Carol Haymond read "Up and Down." The flag salute followed devotions. Bowles took the roll call and read the August minutes, which were accepted as read following a motion by Cheryl Turner and second by Ted Turner.

Bowles read correspondence. Thank-you cards were received from Cheryl and Ted Turner and the Head Start coordinator, Donna Thomason.

Jean Linger gave the treasurer's report, which was accepted following a motion by Carol Haymond and a second by Susie Bender. There were no committee reports, but Haymond and Bowles reported bringing magazines to the IGA book nook. JoAnn Hawkins reported that the book shelves are empty and that the IGA could use some more magazines.

Page announced that a baby girl shower for Jonathan and Soran Jenkins took place from 2 until 5 p.m. on Sept. 8 at the Christian Fellowship Church in Buckhannon. Page reported that she turned in 4,000 volunteer hours to the West Virginia University Extension Office. Haymond reported on the fundraising committee meeting of Aug. 23. There will be no mother/daughter/friend event in 2014.

A fundraiser will take place at 10 a.m., Friday, Oct. 18, at the Episcopal Church in Buckhannon. It will be a combination hot dog and bake sale. Members should bring baked items, and each club is asked to supply one case of hot dogs, buns, catsup, mustard, relish, one case of soda and water. Bender made a motion to take money for the expenses out of the treasury. It was seconded by Connie Simmons and carried.

Page brought up the problem of storing the club scrapbooks. Someone will check with the local fire department to see if they can provide space to display the books.

JoAnn Hawkins gave the lesson "What to Eat? Food Allergies." Members participated in a scrambled word quiz on foods responsible for 90 percent of food allergies.

Connie Simmons thanked members for the cards and flowers she received recently. Cheryl Turner made a motion to adjourn, which was seconded by Ted Turner and carried. The meeting adjourned at 7:50 p.m.
