The Christian Golfers Association of North Central West Virginia hosted an outing Aug. 25 at Stonewall Resort, and the team of Shane West, Stetson West, Natalie Hinkle and Mike Hinkle combined to shoot a 64 to take top honors.
Ken Lipscomb, Steve Johnson and Ralph Phillips combined for a 69 for second place. Other teams competing were Gene Bryant, Charlie Straley, Clay Persinger and Harry Grose (71); Jeff Zickefoose, Lynelle Zickefoose, David Beer and Larry Wamsley (72); Beryl McKisic, Ken Riffle and Don Neman (72); Brian Hayhurst, Bryan Smith and Mike Garrett (73); and Phil Austin, George Moore, Rob Tyler and Ethan Tyler (82).
The group also staged a golf outing on Sept. 5 at the Riverbend Golf Course in Buckhannon. The team of Jeff Zickefoose, Lynelle Zickefoose, Don Neman and Phil Austin took top honors with a round of 32. Other teams competing were Harry Grose, Charlie Straley, Ron Shingleton and Mike Hinkle (33); Darrell Linger, Michelle Linger, Jerry Abel and Ezra Richards (35); Clay Persinger, Larry Wamsley, Chris Cosner and Ken Brown (35); Ron Lamb, Melissa Lamb, Bob Heavner and Betty Heavner (35); Bob Withers, Ellnora Withers, James Davis and Melissa Davis (36).
Ken Brown won the closest-to-the-pin competition on the second hole, and Harry Grose won the competition on the ninth hole.
The golfers traveled to the Meadows Course at the Greenbrier Resort on Sept. 2, and the team of Ron Shingleton, Brian Hinkle, Mickey Tenney and Chester Cutright won the event with a 63 score. Danny Marple cracked the longest drive on the 14th hole. Bob Kritchbaum hit the shot closest to the pin on the fourth hole, and Mike Ramono made the longest putt of the day on the 18th hole.
