Etta "Jo" Simmons Russell, 76, of Tallmansville, died Friday, Sept. 20, 2013, at Southern Ohio Medical Center in Portsmouth, Ohio.
She was born July 3, 1937, in Haywood, a daughter of the late Rev. Harry and Sadis Wolfe Simmons.
On June 30, 1956, she married Grover Russell, who survives.
Also surviving are four sons, Scott Russell and wife, Nicki, of Tallmansville, Tom Russell and wife, Darlene, of Century, Rod Russell and wife, Barb, of Finleyville, Pa., and Phil Russell and wife, Karen, of Parsons; one daughter, Karen Beard and husband, Arch, of South Daytona, Fla.; 10 grandsons; nine granddaughters; 12 great-grandchildren; two brothers; five sisters; step mother, Kathleen Simmons of Scott Depot; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers and five sisters.
Mrs. Russell was a homemaker and a member of the Ten Mile Baptist Church in Tallmansville. Mrs. Russell's greatest pleasure in life was her family.
Friends will be received from 4-9 p.m. today at Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday from the funeral home with the Rev. Brad Tenney officiating. Burial will follow in the Lanham Cemetery in Queens.
