Bobby Lee Harper, 70, a resident of Elkins, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2013, in the Davis Memorial Hospital emergency department.
He was born May 17, 1943, in Petersburg, a son of the late Clarence Harper and Josie Vance Harper.
He was married to Joyce Helmick Harper, who survives in Elkins.
Also surviving are two sons, Tim Harper and wife, Chrissy, of Beverly and Jason Harper of Boston, Mass.; and two grandchildren, Cory and Gracelyn Harper. Sisters-in-law, Sharlene Helmick of Clarksburg, Joan Riggleman of Mabie and Louise Teter of Maryland; brothers-in-law, Richard Teter and wife, Rose, of Piedmont, S.C., and Ray Teter and wife, Ann, of Watauga, Tenn., also survive. Also surviving are his dogs, Gracie, Shawna and Stormy.
Also preceding him in death were his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Charles and Beatrice Helmick; sister-in-law, Margaret Pinkard; and brother-in-law, Charles Helmick Jr.
Bobby was a graduate of Circleville High School with the class of 1960 and was a veteran of the United States Army. He retired from the Orders Construction Company where he worked as a welder. He enjoyed hunting, cutting wood and spending time at home with his family. Friends may call from 6 pm until 8 pm Thursday, Sept. 26, 2013 at the Beverly United Methodist Church. A funeral service will be held at 1 pm Friday, Sept. 27th from the church with the Rev. Stella Faye Moyer officiating. Interment will follow in the Rowan Memorial Cemetery at Mabie. Memorial contributions may be made to the Beverly Volunteer Fire Department, PO Box 135, Beverly, WV 26253 in memory of Mr. Harper.
