An Elkins woman was arrested after allegedly hitting her husband with a car and then stabbing him with a screwdriver Sunday, police said.

Kimberly Christine Hawkins, 33, was charged with malicious wounding. Hawkins was arraigned by Chief Magistrate George Riggleman and is being held in Tygart Valley Regional Jail on a $100,000 cash-only bond.

West Virginia State Police officials were notified when Hawkins' husband, Delmas Lambert, was taken to David Memorial Hospital after sustaining injuries during a domestic dispute, according to the criminal complaint.

Lambert told police he and his wife were "involved in a verbal argument" while driving, which escalated into a heated exchange, resulting in Lambert leaving the vehicle, a green 1997 Honda Accord.

Hawkins reportedly advised Lambert to return to the car, and when he refused she struck him with the vehicle, according to the report. Lambert said Hawkins then "apologized profusely" and drove Lambert to DMH for treatment.

After he was treated, Hawkins convinced Lambert to allow her to give him a ride home, police said. When they returned to his residence, the argument between the two resumed and became physical, the complaint stated.

Lambert told police he pushed Hawkins "away from him," and she responded by picking up a Phillip's head screw driver and stabbing Lambert "multiple times, leaving several small lacerations on (Lambert's) arm and back," according to the complaint.

Lambert told police he managed to separate himself from Hawkins, "locked her out of the vehicle and attempted to leave the residence" but she "threw a large stone from the yard and struck" the vehicle, fracturing the windshield, the complaint stated.

Lambert then returned to DMH to seek additional medical treatment, police said.
