Police: Man grew marijuana in yard

A French Creek man has been arrested on a drug charge after police allegedly discovered marijuana plants growing in his yard.

According to the complaint in Upshur County Magistrate Court, Ronald Jay Picker, 62, of 945 Bethlehem Road, is charged with manufacturing a controlled substance.

The complaint stated that West Virginia state troopers found five marijuana plants growing at Picker's residence in September. The complaint stated that troopers searched the inside of the residence and allegedly discovered four plastic bags containing green vegetation inside a freezer. The green vegetation was believed to be marijuana, according to the complaint.

A $30,000 personal recognizance bond was set, along with a $10,000 surety bond.
