Adaland Mansion at Philippi and the Barbour County Community Garden Market, partners in the Celebrate Local! An Adaland Dinner Series, are pleased to announce the menu for the final of five dinners in this season's highly successful dinner series. Guest chef Lucy Williamson will prepare a sumptuous buffet lunch for guests Sunday, Oct. 20 at both 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. seatings.
Williamson's menu echoes her 10 years of homecooked meals especially prepared for guests of Adaland Mansion. Adaland hostesses will serve guests a hearty cream of potato soup with homemade rolls and butter followed by a salad of assorted greens, fresh tomatoes, cucumbers, onions and cheese tossed with Williamson's famous salad dressing.
Guests will then be invited to the buffet table to dish out foods that will melt in their mouths. Swiss steak with peppers, tomatoes, onions and mushrooms and chicken dipped in buttermilk and rolled in flour before baking until tender are the entrees for the dinner.
Side dish choices gracing the dining room buffet table will be rutabagas simmered in ham broth, mixed steamed and buttered vegetables, and mashed potatoes and gravy.
As a special treat to guests at this final dinner, hostesses will present a dessert tray on which will be displayed a wide selection of homemade desserts from which dinners will chose their preference. Hot beverages and Adaland's signature iced peach tea will be served with the dinner.
"This series has spotlighted area and regional produce, meats, and breads and the extraordinary chefs who prepare these foods," said an Adaland spokeswoman. "Our guests have been fascinated with the wide variety of food and food preparations this series has introduced, and we're certain our last meal will be as well received as the pervious four."
