Police have released the name of a man killed in an early morning shooting incident Thursday in Coalton.

Cameron Kenneth Tyre, 22, of Coalton, died on the scene of a shooting incident that took place in a rural area on Rich Mountain near Coalton, Randolph County Sheriff Mark Brady confirmed Friday.

Sheriff's deputies are still investigating the incident, Brady said, and have not determined whether it was accidental, a homicide or a suicide. No arrests have been made in the case.

"It's still under investigation, and we're still interviewing family members and other individuals to determine the causes of why and how he was shot," Brady said.

On Thursday, Brady said local residents had no reason to be fearful.

"The public is not in danger," he told The Inter-Mountain. "This is an isolated incident."

According to previous reports, Randolph County sheriff's deputies responded to the scene of the shooting just after midnight Thursday. Tyre, who was with a group of other individuals at the time of the shooting, was pronounced dead at the scene, Brady said.
