Alderson Broaddus 48

Point University ..., 16

VALLEY, Ala. - The Alderson Broaddus football team made quick work of mistake-prone Point University 48-16 Saturday afternoon at Ram Stadium.

Point suffered from turnovers from start to finish in the lopsided Battler victory. Defensive backs Malcolm Lee and Donovan Olumba snatched interceptions for the blue and gold defense. The Skyhawks (3-3) also struggled holding onto the football with several fumbles and mental mistakes.

The Battlers (3-3) looked sharp on the defensive side of the football and kept Point off the board for the first half of the game. Lineman Jeff Stephens provided the pressure for ABU. Stephens had a sack, tackle for loss and a forced fumble all before halftime.

Tailback Brandon Jones ran over the Skyhawk offense with touchdown carries of 50 and eight yards. His 50-yard touchdown run came at the end of the first quarter and he ran it in from eight yards out midway through the second.

Wilson Vaughn made the start at quarterback for the Battlers. He connected with tight end Cooper Schroeder for a 5-yard touchdown midway through the third quarter, which gave ABU a comfortable 24-0 advantage.
