High school students from Barbour, Lewis, and Upshur counties are invited to attend the 2013 College Fair hosted by West Virginia Wesleyan College on Thursday in the Rockefeller Gymnasium from 9 to 11 a.m.
More than 40 institutions of higher education, including both private and public colleges/universities, technical and trade schools, and military services from Ohio, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Kentucky, and West Virginia will be present to provide information to students about academics and other opportunities.
"We are thrilled to host the fourth annual college fair as part of the West Virginia College Day tour schedule and the West Virginia Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers," said Leah Ripley, assistant director of admission at Wesleyan.
"The event offers a unique opportunity to college-bound students to have access to representatives and to begin or enhance their college search. We are happy to be a small part of bringing that service to the community."
Students attending the program are asked to register for a barcode by visiting www.wvcollegeday.com and selecting the program at West Virginia Wesleyan College. Representatives will be using scan devices in order to easily acquire student's information.
Once information has been inputted, the bar code can be printed or accessed on their smart phone and brought to the event to maximize the students' time during their college fair experience.
"Each year, we look forward to welcoming these students to our campus," Ripley noted. "Attending the college fair allows them the opportunity to receive information about institutions that they may not have considered."
