Members of the John Hart Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution pose at a bronze statue of a Mingo Indian in Mingo Flats which commemorates the “last Indian settlement in West Virginia.” Pictured are Cece Wallace, Mary Anger, Deb Bonwell. Mary Kay Bidlack, Barbara Tedford, Barbara McCreary, Willa Jean Thornhill and Sally Decker. Not pictured is Pat Valentine. Instead of an October meeting, the chapter enjoyed a day tour of Civil War and other historic sites in Randolph County. For the Civil War sites, the Day 2 Driving Tour from Hunter Lesser’s book ‘The First Campaign’ was used. In Mingo Flats, a stop also was made at the Confederate monument.
