The Buckhannon-Upshur boys' soccer team shut out Hampshire 3-0 in sectional semi-final action at Freal "Red" Crites Stadium in Tennerton Monday.
Buckhannon's defense was overwhelming. Forget about not allowing a goal; they did not allow a shot on goal in the game.
B-U had 16 total shots to Hampshire's zero and led in corner kicks nine to none.
In the meantime, the Buc's Dylan Hall scored twice. Once in the 11th minute when he put in a deflection off of Hampshire goalkeeper Isaak Lambert, the other at the 30:00 mark on an assist from Josh Tenney.
The third goal came with two minutes elapsed in the second period by Tenney. He was assisted on the play by Lucas Gullo.
Coach Mike Donato said, "Our strategy for tonight was to build our attack out of the back and look to use our wings more. We created a lot of opportunities because of that."
"Our targeting was not where it needed to be, so that is something we will focus on before our match up with Elkins," Donato said.
The first-seeded Buccaneers will host second-seeded Elkins in the sectional final at 6 p.m. on Wednesday in Tennerton.
