Wanda Maxine Hart Dean, 84, a resident of Elkins, departed this life early Saturday morning, Nov. 2, 2013, at her home with her family at her side.
She was born Saturday, March 9, 1929, at Kerens, a daughter of the late Celophus and Elva Blanche Cross Hart.
On May 12, 1973, at Baltimore, Md., she was married to Bradley S. Dean, who survives. They had celebrated 40 years of marriage.
Also surviving are two stepdaughters, Janet Lynn Kruger and husband, William, and Dora Francis Peterson and husband, Bryan, all of Baltimore; one sister, Naola Mae Shipp of Glenmore; two grandchildren, Kelli Kruger and William Kruger, Jr.; two great- granddaughters, Lilly and Emily Kruger; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death are four brothers, Edgar Lee, Gilbert Levi, Cleophus Durwood and Richard Allen Hart; and one sister, Nola Jean Currence.
She attended the schools of Kerens and was a graduate of Elkins High School with the class of 1942. She attended Davis & Elkins College and then worked in the accounting department of FMC Corporation in Baltimore. She was a homemaker, a noted cook, a seamstress, enjoyed crocheting and loved flower gardening. She attended the Church of God of Prophecy.
The family will receive friends at Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday. Final Rites will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2013, at 12:30 p.m. The Rev. Gilbert L. Hart Jr. will officiate and interment will follow at the Beverly Cemetery at Beverly.
