Mr. Clarence N. Wamsley, 85, a resident of Route 1, Beverly, passed away at 12:20 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 1, 2013, in Davis Memorial Hospital.
He was born Aug. 28, 1928, at Monterville, a son of the late Charlie N. Wamsley and the late Erma Elizabeth Hogan Wamsley.
He was twice married. On June 29, 1951, at Elkins, he was married to the former Norma Elaine Barrickman, who preceded him in death May 8, 2007. On Dec. 30, 2009, he was married to Naomi Kayes Wamsley, who survives.
He is also survived by one son, Charlie M. Wamsley and wife, Glenda L. Wamsley, and one daughter, Betsy J. Wamsley Arbogast and husband, Steven L. Arbogast, all of Belington. One stepson, Robert W. Wamsley Jr. and wife, Wendy, of Elkins; six stepdaughters, Diana L Siler of Lexington, Ky., Patsy Hite and husband, Chris, of Buckhannon, Donna Forinash and husband, Mark, of Valley Bend, Joyce Nice and husband, Dorsey, of Capon Bridge and Connie and Beverly Wamsley, both of Elkins; and one sister, Georgetta T. Wamsley Swecker and husband, Raymond, of Norton, Va., also survive. Five grandchildren, Rochelle Golden and companion, Terry Kuhn, of Elkins, Kristie Arbogast of Petersburg, Morgan Wamsley and wife, Rachel, of Savannah, Ga., Ty Wamsley of Philippi and Taasha Wamsley and fiance, Dylan Beitz, of Morgantown; and two great-great-grandchildren, Damien Golden and Davyn Wamsley, both of Philippi also survive.
Mr. Wamsley worked as a crew leader with the West Virginia Division of Highways until his retirement. He was a member of Riverside Lodge #124 A.F. & A.M. of Cass, Scottish Rite of Free Masonry, Valley of Charleston, Chapter No. 23 Royal Arch Masons, Knights Templar Pilgrim Commandery No. 21 of Elkins, Cass Chapter No. 124 Order of the Eastern Star and Tygart Valley Shrine Club.
Friends may call from 6 until 8 p.m. today at Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 5, from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Jonas Johnson Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain State Memorial Gardens near Elkins. Masonic Rites will be accorded at the gravesite by Riverside Lodge No. 124 A.F. and A.M. of Cass.
