Sweet smells fill the air Thursday afternoon as volunteers gather at Orchard Hall in Elkins to prepare 67 batches of holiday candy for the Senior Citizen Christmas Dinner, scheduled for 2 p.m. Dec. 22. The annual event is sponsored by Jeanne Hart and Pam Jones in hopes of helping many people enjoy the true meaning of Christmas. All senior citizens from Randolph County and six or more surrounding counties are expected to partake in a free turkey or steak dinner with all the trimmings, enjoy a short pageant and a visit from Santa Claus.
