Holiday Soiree set for Friday

Elkins ON TRAC will showcase local food and music during the Downtown Holiday Soiree from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at Seneca Mall Atrium.

The event, which will also include wine-tasting, features local cuisine by downtown restaurants.

Henry G's Cafe, Kissel Stop Cafe, Mee Mee'z Cafe & Cakes, and Papa John's Pizza will serve hors d'oeuvres and appetizers highlighting their menu items and specialties.

Good Energy Foods will also provide samples of products.

Appetizers will be accompanied by an array of delectable homemade sweets contributed and served by ON TRAC

volunteers.

A selection of wines presented by Stone Road Vineyard of Elizabeth, W.Va., will compliment the hors d'oeuvres and sweets. Eleven wines will be available by the glass or bottle.

Non-alcoholic beverages will also be served. Brewstel will provide hot apple cider, and coffee and water will be available.

The Junior Women's Club of Elkins will help greet and serve guests.

Entertainment will be provided by local musicians Seth Maynard and Scott Green.

Green, an instructor at Third Ward Elementary School and West Virginia Wesleyan College, is also a composer and arranger, church organist and music director for the Old Brick Playhouse Apprentices.

He is a longtime member of West Virginia University's Miltenberger Jazz Quartet, and performs each summer in musical shows produced by West Virginia Public Theatre.

Maynard serves on the Adjunct Music Faculty at Davis & Elkins College and records local talent at Lone Wolf Productions in Elkins. He performs as many as 120 shows each year with his group, Osmosis, and others including JB Tenney, ZEN, and The Ginsangers.

His recording and producing credits are numerous, including sound mixing for the West Virginia PBS show "American Mountain Theater."

Maynard's CD, "Make the Season Bright"(2012) is filled with unique versions of many holiday favorites.

Music for the evening is sponsored by Davis Trust Company. Other sponsors include Edward Jones and Mountain Valley Bank.

In addition to enjoying fine music, food and wine, all soiree guests will be eligible to win door prizes donated by downtown businesses, including Elkins Sewing Center, Hopscotch, Main Line Books, Phillips and Sons Pawn, Talbott Frameshop, TD's Classic Tees, Third Street Trading Company and Trickett

Hardware.

Guests must be present to win.

A pair of ski lift tickets contributed by Snowshoe Mountain Resort will also be raffled during the event.

Christmas trees decorated by downtown businesses and supporters will be on display and available for auction during the event.

Contributors include Ann Macomber and Katie Daft, the City of Elkins, Elkins Sewing Center, Family Dental, Gandy Dancer, Henry G's, Jerry Corley, JoJo's, Kissel Stop, Performance 7, Sewing for the Season, Steer Steakhouse, The Fashion Closet and Victorian Emporium. Elkins ON TRAC also decorated a tree for the

auction.

Adult admission for the Downtown Holiday Soire is $10 for Friends of Elkins ON TRAC and $25 for non-members. Each $25 admission includes a one-year individual membership in the Friends of Elkins ON TRAC.

Advance tickets are available at Davis Trust Company. Tickets may also be purchased at the door.

Babysitting will be available at the YMCA from 6 to 10 p.m. at $10 per child for YMCA members or $15 for non-members. Each additional child is $5 for both members and non-members.

All proceeds of the Downtown Holiday Soire will benefit Elkins ON TRAC and support the organization's work revitalizing downtown Elkins.
