ELKINS - An Elkins man was uninjured after the vehicle he was driving went over an embankment and landed on its top Wednesday morning, police said.
Tyler George, 23, of 801 Poe Run Road, was cited for driving on a suspended license and for defective equipment.
Deputy M.P. Dyer, of the Randolph County Sheriff's Office, said George used a screwdriver to start his car, but the tool vibrated out of the ignition switch, causing the steering column to lock up, leading to the wreck.
"I've never heard of that happening before," Dyer said.
The Chevrolet Cavalier George was driving went over an embankment and landed on its top in a driveway just before 9 a.m., Dyer said, adding that the car was totaled.
In addition to deputies, the Randolph County EMS and the Elkins Fire Department responded at the scene.
