Itis G. Nelson, 85, a resident of Elkins, passed away Sunday afternoon, Dec. 15, 2013, in Hospice Care Regional Inpatient Center in Elkins.
She was born June 8, 1928, at Harman, a daughter of the late Mervyn VanBuren Lantz and the late Verna Elizabeth Carr Lantz.
On June 12, 1948, in Elkins, she was married to Waitman W. "Bill" Nelson, who preceded her in death March 4, 1986.
Surviving are one son, Dale R. Nelson and Brucetta, of Belington; and two daughters, Jane E. Pingley and Ronald L. Pingley of Beverly and Linda Lou Nelson of Elkins. Seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren also survive.
Also preceding her in death were one son, Mervyn Joe Nelson, and one brother, Mervyn Joseph Lantz.
Mrs. Nelson operated the Elkins Credit Bureau for many years and was a member of Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church. She was a loving mother and grandmother, and her greatest achievement was to be the best "Granny" in the world.
Friends may call from 5 until 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18, at Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Gray Hinkle officiating. Interment will follow in Maplewood Cemetery.
