Elkins High School’s Jordan Hart throws out a runner during a game last spring. Hart, a junior, has been selected for the Queen of Diamonds Showcase North that takes place Jan. 4-5 at Kent State University.
"I get the opportunity to show college coaches what I can do on the field."
The QDSN is in its 19th season and attracts athletes from 30 states and two Canadian Provinces. More than 2,000 players apply for the Showcase North, along with the Queen of Diamonds South, and only 264 are selected.
Players' selection criteria includes ability, future potential, academics, graduation year, coaches request and college referrals.
Hart, a third baseman, has started since her freshman season for the Tigers.
"I think my strengths are my velocity on my throws and my hitting," Hart said. "I'm hoping to open some eyes when I get a chance to compete in the Showcase."
Hart, who also plays for the Elkins Explosion and WV Wild from Petersburg, is the daughter of Gary and Melinda Hart.
