Special to The Inter-Mountain
Hello from Barbour County! I hope that everyone had a good Christmas. After 70 degree temperatures on the first day of winter, I was beginning to wonder if we would have a white Christmas. I was glad to see the snow on Christmas Eve morning, and we ended up having a white Christmas after all.
It's hard to believe that in just a few days we will be saying goodbye to 2013. I hope you all have a great new year!
Tragedies don't take a break for the holidays. This Christmas was no exception. First responders were kept busy, sometimes for bad happenings, and some for good. Thanks to all those who drop what they are doing and rush to the aid of someone in need.
There will be a cake walk benefit for Brett and Kristin Howell on Jan. 11 at 5 p.m. at the Belington Fire Department. Their home was destroyed in a fire on Christmas Eve. Come out and show community support to one of our own. For any additional information or to help, contact Travis Ryan at 614-4764.
Belington Public Library will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday for New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. The library will reopen on Thursday at noon. The library will also be having a First Friday movie night Friday at 5 p.m. The featured movie is a kid-friendly story about a penguin. There will be no genealogy club for January.
I'm sure that children and teachers alike have all enjoyed the time off school the past couple of weeks. School resumes in Barbour County on Thursday. Be sure and keep an eye out for children getting on and off the school bus.
News has been pretty quiet lately with people relaxing after a long holiday season. Enjoy time with your family.
If you have any Barbour County news that you would like to see in The Inter-Mountain, give me a call at (304) 823-2539, or by email at email@example.com. I love hearing from you all!
Finally, please don't drink and drive as you are out celebrating this New Year.
