United Way calendars available

December 28, 2013
By Beth Christian Broschart - Staff Writer , The Inter-Mountain

ELKINS - A calendar is something most folks refer to every day, and the United Way of Randolph County is again offering that useful item with a twist - purchasers of the new Cash Calendar are entered into monthly drawings for cash prizes totaling $3,500 to be given away throughout the year.

JoBeth Agnor, executive director of the United Way of Randolph County, said the calendar is a gift that keeps giving.

"The calendars make great gifts for friends or relatives," Agnor said. "Those who receive the calendars have a chance to win money, and the money (raised by) the calendars helps the 27 partnering agencies served by the United Way."

Agnor said a $100 winner is drawn each month, along with other special drawings.

"On Jan. 31, we will draw a $500 winner, a $100 winner on Valentine's Day, a $250 winner on St. Patrick's Day, a $500 winner on Independence Day, a $250 winner on Thanksgiving Day and a $100 winner on Mother's Day, Father's Day, Easter, United Way Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day and Christmas Day," she said.

Agnor said winners will be notified by phone from the United Way office, and a check will be mailed to the winners. If a name is pulled out for a cash prize, it will then be returned to the mix and be eligible for multiple prizes.

"Calendars are $25 each, and are available from any United Way of Randolph County board member or at the office located at 309 Henry Ave. in Elkins," she said.

The calendars are provided by Citizens Bank of West Virginia, and a maximum of 300 calendars will be sold.
