BELINGTON - A Belington man was arrested this week and charged with failure to register as a sex offender or provide notification changes.
According to the criminal complaint on file at the Barbour County Magistrate Clerk's Office, 40-year-old Charles D. George Jr. was arrested after Cpl. S.P. Miller of the Philippi Detachment of the West Virginia State Police visited Dingess Lumber Company in Belington to check on George's employment status. In December 2013, George allegedly reported that he was no longer employed by that business.
However, George had not been employed by Dingess Lumber Company since Aug. 31, 2013, according to information Miller obtained from the lumber company.
West Virginia Sex Offender Registry Laws require a convicted sex offender to register any changes to his or her information within 10 business days.
George was released from jail on a $2,500 personal recognizance bond after being arrested Monday.
