Hello from frozen Barbour County. The cold temperatures seem to be the topic of conversations all around the area. Because of this, teachers and students have enjoyed extra days off from school lately. I hope that everyone is staying warm and safe.
My family had some fun throwing boiling water in the air and watching it blow away in the zero temperatures.
Did everyone have a great start to the new year? 2014 is like a blank canvas in front of us. I hope it turns into a beautiful picture.
Just a reminder that the cake walk benefit for Brett and Kristin Howell is today. The Howell family lost their home to a fire on Christmas Eve. Come on out to the Belington Fire Department this evening at 5 p.m. to show your support.
Congratulations to John Green, retired fire chief in Philippi. He has served his community for almost 40 years, having been chief since 1989, and is greatly appreciated. Folks were able to show their appreciation at his retirement party last weekend. Best wishes to the new chief, Dave Utt.
The Belington Public Library will not be having their Saturday morning Genealogy Club this month, due to weather conditions. They will, however, still have Children's Story Hour, every Thursday at 4 p.m.
Mark your calendars for a two-night, three-day trip to Nashville starting June 12 in Clarksburg. This trip will include baseball, showboat cruise, Grand Ole Opry, and more. Proceeds from this trip go to the Barbour County Special Olympics. For more information, contact Kelli Kittle at (304) 614-2409.
Things seem to be quiet in the area lately. So, if you have any Barbour County news that you would like to see in The Inter-Mountain, give me a call at (304) 823-2539 or by email at email@example.com. I love hearing from you all!
