Robert G. Bohon, 82, a resident of Elkins, passed away Friday, Jan. 10, 2014, at his home.
He was born Aug. 6, 1931, at Parsons, a son of the late Tone C. and Janet L. Miller Bohon.
On Sept. 14, 1951, at Parsons, he was married to Ruth Gaye Godwin, who preceded him in death Oct. 29, 2000.
He is survived by two sons, Toney Bohon of Coalton and Jack Bohon of Elkins; two daughters, Patty Judy and husband, Steve, of Mannington and Joyce Main, who resided with her father; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren as well as one brother, Oved Bohon, Parsons; and three sisters, Delores Nine and Della Akins of Hambleton, and Delain Mullenax of Elkins also survive.
Mr. Bohon was a Veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Korean War, and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He was employed as a truck driver for many years prior to his retirement and attended the Elkins Church of God.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14, from the funeral home chapel with Rev. Eli Hostetler officiating. Interment will follow in the Mountain State Memorial Gardens near Gilman, where full military honors will be accorded at the gravesite by members of the West Virginia National Guard Honor Guard Program, H.W. Daniels Post 29 American Legion and Tygart Valley Post 3647 Veterans of Foreign Wars. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 122 South High Street, Morgantown, WV 26501 in memory of Mr. Bohon.
