ELKINS - The Elkins Middle School Hornets stung Green Bank 53-36 Monday night in Elkins.
Tyler Monk led the Hornets with 10 points and Elliott White contributed nine points in the victory. The win improved EMS to 4-1 on the season.
"Our kids pushed the ball well," coach Ross Ware said. "They set a good pace. We still had too many mental mistakes. We let them keep it closer than it should have been. But overall, I was happy with the win."

For Green Bank, Jarrett Taylor set the pace with 15 points. Jacob Jones added nine points.
In the junior varsity game, EMS defeated Green Bank 62-26. Donovan Wiles paced the Hornets with 13 points. Brayden Davis, Jeremy Cogar and Remington Stanley contributed eight points each. The EMS junior varsity improved its record to 4-0 on the season.
"The junior varsity squad played super good," Ware said. "They did everything right. They played a nearly spotless game. We capitalized on their mistakes and didn't make any of our own. That was the difference."
