The library has needed newer materials for student research and reading. Marsh wrote grants and requested funding for the project, and in response, Arch Coal donated funding for new books.

Belington Middle School is participating in the Silent Sustained Reading Program and a reading initiative to encourage the students to read 500 books as a school for a reward activity.

Ferguson has renovation plans for the library that include new computers and computer tables.
