Foul play a possible factor

PHILIPPI -- The Barbour County Sheriff's Department is searching for a missing Philippi woman who originally was suspected to have fled before a court hearing last Wednesday.

One week later, police are looking at other possible reasons for the disappearance of Jeanna Marie Mayle, 31, who was indicted by a Barbour County Grand Jury on the felony charges of operating or attempting to operate a clandestine drug lab, conspiracy and the possession of precursors to be used in the manufacture of methamphetamine. One of the possible reasons for her disappearance that police are considering is foul play.

"At this point, I'm just concerned," Chief Deputy Brett Carpenter told The Inter-Mountain Wednesday. "I'm looking into foul play matters."

Mayle was seen at Meadowbrook Mall in Bridgeport on Wednesday, Jan. 8, at around 4:30 p.m. Carpenter said.

"I was hoping to find her so I wouldn't have to put it on the news, but it didn't work that way," Carpenter said. The chief deputy said that after he investigates the matter further by reviewing surveillance camera footage, he may likely send out a press release with more information.

If anyone knows the whereabouts of Mayle or has any information about her disappearance, please call Carpenter at 304-457-2352.
