IRS plans Jan. 31 tax filing for 1040 filers. What does this mean to me? Regardless of when you complete your tax return in the month of January, your tax return cannot be transmitted or accepted by the IRS until

Jan. 31.

Why give up hard earned money from your pocket and pay for tax return preparation today when your refund will not even be available to you till the second week of February?

VITA has new options available to taxpayers this year.

The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program provides face to face help for those making $52,000 or less. Tax returns are prepared for both federal and state and transmitted electronically with refunds 7-10 days, after initial filing season starts Jan. 31. Barbour County sites are Belington Public Library, Elliott Avenue in Belington, Appointments only: 304-502-3434; North Central West Virginia Community Action Association, Route 250, Belington Road, Philippi, Appointments only: 304-457-3420.

To locate other sites near you, log on to www.wveitc.com , dial 2-1-1 or call your regional VITA/EITC coordinator Linda Brown at 304-502-3434.
