ELKINS - Elkins will face two tough Big 10 Conference opponents today and Saturday in the friendly confines of Richard P. Simmons Memorial Gymnasium.

The Tigers, currently 6-1 overall and 4-0 in Big 10 action, welcome Preston this evening before Fairmont Senior comes to town on Saturday.

Both contests will begin at 7:30 p.m.

Elkins point guard Tyler Shreve uses a pick from teammate Logan Phillips (25) in making a move to the basket during a recent game. The Tigers will host Preston this evening and Fairmont Senior on Saturday.

"We would like to have big home crowds out for both games," Elkins coach John Lawson said. "These are two big conference games for us against quality teams."

The Tigers are coming off an 82-35 win over Liberty on Monday night, as Logan Phillips fired in 20 points and junior Braden Hammond tallied 19.

Phillips, a senior forward, is one of the top scorers in the state, averaging nearly 25 points per game.

He's on track to reach 1,000 points for his career, and would become only the eighth player in school history to achieve that milestone.

Nic Hammond, currently playing at Davis &?Elkins College, was the last Tiger to reach the plateau in 2011.

Senior forward Colby Gainer (12.7), Hammond (12.0) and senior point guard Tyler Shreve are also averaging in double figures for Elkins, whose lone loss on the season was to Tucker County back in December.
