Wooten’s layup lifts D&E women

Battler men win ninth straight tilt

CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Stephanie Wooten's layup with eight seconds left in regulation lifted Davis &?Elkins to a 76-75 win over Cedarville Thursday night in G-MAC action.

The Senators (5-11, 4-2 G-MAC) led 73-69 before the Yellow Jackets rallied to take a 75-74 advantage on a free throw from Deborah Gordon with 19 seconds remaining.

After Wooten's basket, Cedarville (6-8, 2-2) missed a 3-pointer with one second left.

Wooten finished with 21 points to lead D&E. Ashley Bowles added 16, Jorden Lykes 14 and Sharmaine Baker 13. Lykes also collected 10 rebounds and Bowles dished out four assists.

Kaysie Brittenham tallied 16 point for the Yellow Jackets, followed by Kayla Jenerette with 13, Gordon with 11 and Kayla Linkous with 10.

The game was tied at 31 at the intermission before the hosts took a 47-40 lead.

D&E will visit Central State at 2 p.m. Saturday for another league contest.

AB 58, Central State 57

WILBERFORCE, Ohio - Korie Maryo hit a 3-point basket with under 10 seconds remaining to lead Alderson Broaddus past Central State University, 58-57, Thursday in G-MAC action.

The Marauders (4-7, 0-4 G-MAC) led 57-53 with 1:27 left before Rachel Ashley and Maryo led the Battlers on a 5-0 run to finish the game.

Sydney Shaffer scored 18 points to lead AB (2-12, 2-4), while Maryo added 12.

Veronne Clark and Akwar Obong each scored 14 for CSU.

The Battlers will visit Cedarville at 2 p.m. Saturday for another league contest.

Men's games

AB 75, Central State 70

WILBERFORCE, Ohio - Malcolm Tatum fired in 22 points to lead Alderson Broaddus to a 75-70 road win over G-MAC foe Central State University.

Tatum was 6 of 7 from the field and hit all eight of his free-throw opportunities.

Adam Kline added 12 points and 10 boards, Richard Lemon 16 points and Thylas Perkins 14 points for the Battlers, who have won nine straight games and are 11-4 overall and the only undefeated men's basketball team in G-MAC play with a 5-0 mark.

LeDonte Body had 21 points for the Marauders (9-7, 1-2, G-MAC).

AB will visit Cedarville at 4 p.m. Saturday for another conference game.

Cedarville 63, D&E 58

CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Cedarville notched a 63-58 win over Davis & Elkins Thursday evening in G-MAC play.

Devin Miller (20) and Wesley Sprinkle (11) reached double figures for the Senators.

Marcus Reineke (18), Leighton Smith (12) and Lane Vander Hulst (11) paced the Yellow Jackets.

D&E will visit Central State at 4 p.m. Saturday in G-MAC play.
