PHILIPPI - Alderson Broaddus has hired Scott Phipps as its new head men's soccer coach.
Phipps joins the Battlers after spending the last five seasons as an assistant at Rockhurst University. He also served as the team's recruiting coordinator and was responsible for scouting and opponent analysis.
While at Rockhurst, Phipps helped develop a program that won four conference championships, two regional championships and made three trips to the NCAA tournament. The Hawks compiled a 70-25-10 record while Phipps was on the staff and reached the NCAA Division II men's soccer national semifinal in 2013.
"We are pleased to welcome Scott to the Battler family," AB Director of Athletics Dennis Creehan said. "Scott stood out among an excellent group of candidates and I believe he is the ideal candidate to guide our storied men's soccer program."
Prior to his stint at Rockhurst, Phipps served as the head men's soccer coach and assistant women's soccer coach at Division III Buena Vista University (2007-09). He coached two All-Conference players with the Beavers.
Phipps played four collegiate seasons at the University of Alabama-Huntsville and Park University (Mo.).
