Lorena Ruth Swecker Collett, 87, a resident of East Dailey, passed away Thursday morning, Jan. 16, 2014, at her home. Lorena had been in declining health for the past few years. Death was attributed to a stroke.

She was born April 14, 1926, at Huttonsville, a daughter of the late Eugene B. Swecker and Lillian Violet Weese Swecker.

On Jan, 28, 1947, at the Woodford Church in Elkins, she was married to Ray Stokes Collett, who preceded her in death Dec. 13, 2009.

Surviving are their six children, John Thomas Collett and companion, Joyce Wickline, of Beverly, Terry Ray Collett and wife, Sandy, of East Dailey, Charles Rex "Chuck" Collett and wife, Pansy, of Mill Creek, Brenda Jean Pritt and husband, Kenny, of Beverly, Richard Eugene "Dick" Collett and wife, Jeannie, of East Dailey and Lisa Irene Lewis and husband, Dave, of Beverl;. Eight grandchildren, Tracy Ratliff, Brian Collett, Shelley Collett, Gwynne Collett, Derrick Pritt, Jeff Pritt, Nicholas Lewis and Maria Lewis; three stepgrandchildren, Brenda Vanscoy, Chris Heflin and Brandy Williams; nine great-grandchildren; four stepgreat-grandchildren; one sister, Phyllis Ann Talbott; and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Also preceding her in death was one brother, Darrell Swecker; four sisters, Donna Hicks, Faye Joy, Marg Tiller and Leta Carder; and one stepgrandchild, Cameron Tyre.

Lorena loved her family and was very proud of all her children. She will be greatly missed by all her loved ones and friends. She attended Randolph County Schools and received her GED in 1978. She was employed at several jobs throughout her life, but the one she was the most proud of being was a housewife and mother. She worked at Miller's Restaurant, Memorial General Hospital, Elkins Recreation Center, was a Randolph County Schools substitute bus driver, Bata Shoe and drove the van for Family Health. She was a member of Tygart Valley Fire Department Auxiliary and Dailey Women's Club. She was a Protestant by faith.

Friends may call from 5 until 7 p.m. today at Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. On Sunday, Jan. 19, she will be moved to Mountain State Memorial Gardens near Gilman where a graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. The Rev. Leon Brown will officiate, and interment will follow.
