ELKINS - Senior James Galusky fired in 24 points to lead Preston to a 65-52 victory over Elkins Friday night in Big 10 Conference play at Richard P. Simmons Memorial Gymnasium.

The Knights took a 32-29 advantage into halftime. The Tigers came out strong in the second half and took the lead with nearly 5 minutes left in the third quarter on a Brandon Hammonds' 3-pointer. However, the Knight responded with a 19-4 run to end the stanza.

"We didn't play very well," Elkins coach John Lawson said. "We played hard. We just weren't able to get anything going on either side of the ball. Offensively, we didn't run well. That's my fault. This one is on me.

"They got too many easy baskets. On offense, we just didn't execute. Our kids are disappointed but we'll be alright. We're going to bounce back and give Fairmont our best shot. Hopefully we can come out with a win."

Hammond paced the Tigers in scoring with 17 points, including five 3-pointers.

Logan Phillips added 16 points to the effort.

Other top scorers for Preston were Spencer Lively with 16 points and Brandon Black with 11 points.

The Tigers will host Fairmont Senior at 7:30 p.m. today for another Big 10 Conference game.
