A release from Schiffer Publishing, Ltd, said in the book, Lesser profiles George Ryman and how his breeding program used Laverack and Llewellin lines to create the ideal hunting setter.

Lesser's tales provide insights into handling, training and hunting grouse and woodcocks with setters.

Lesser retired after 42 years as a wildlife biologist.

He has bred, hunted and trained Ryman-type setters for more than 50 years.

"The Real Ryman Setter: A History with Stories from the Appalachian Grouse Covers," is available online at Amazon.com and locally at Main Line Books in Elkins.
