HAMBLETON - Tucker County's Ian Nichols and Austin Zirk scored 15 points each en route to a 71-34 win over Tygarts Valley in PVC play.
"We started off really slow in the first half," Mountain Lions coach Tom Gutshall said. "We missed a lot of easy shots. We came out in the second half and really set the tempo. It has been a long time since we played, so the kids were a little rusty. I think this got them back into the flow. When you don't have the opportunity to practice every day, it makes it tough."
Mitchell Mason led the Mountain Lions with 14 rebounds. He also contributed 11 points.
Both teams had not played since they faced each other on Jan. 17. In that game, Tucker County defeated Tygarts Valley, 68-40.
Bulldogs coach Tom Wamsley also said the break in action was tough on his team. However, he didn't blame the lack of playing in the loss.
"It was pretty much the same as last time," Wamsley said. "We just didn't have an answer for them offensively. We didn't execute and do the little things well. In the end it hurt us."
Ben Sycafoose paced the Bulldogs in scoring with nine points. Jace Kyle and Caleb Riggleman both scored five points.
Tygarts Valley (5-6) will return to action at 7:30 p.m. today at Fayetteville in WVHIT play.
Tucker County (8-2) will visit East Hardy at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
