EHS’ Hall shines

Junior swimmer breaks two records

CLARKSBURG - Elkins' Samantha Hall set two meet records en route to winning high-point honors at the Big 10 Conference Championships held on Saturday.

Hall broke marks in the 50-yard freestyle (24.89) and 100 freestyle (54.82). The EHS?girls placed second overall with 182 points, just eight behind champion Bridgeport. Buckhannon-Upshur was third and Philip Barbour fourth.

The Tigers also captured the 200 freestyle relay (Kayla Gainer, Lauren Cain, Skout Barger and Hall) in a time of 1:47.88, and the 400 freestyle relay (Gainer, Tayler Lee, Barger and Hall) with a strong showing of 4:06.58.

The EHS boys placed sixth and were led by a third-place finish from Tyler Kenney in the 100 backstroke.

Fairmont Senior claimed the boys title, while B-U was third and Philip Barbour fourth.
