PHILIPPI - The Barbour County Commission on Monday received complaints from local school bus drivers who claimed that vehicles have been ignoring their extended stop-arms and illegally passing buses stopped to drop off or pick up children.

Commission President Tim McDaniel announced Monday at a regular meeting that he has received several letters from bus drivers in Barbour County saying that they have had this occur.

"It's a huge safety issue," McDaniel said.

He said the drivers were asking for the Commission's help to get the message out to the public.

McDaniel said he would like to remind the public that passing a school bus is illegal and is a punishable

offense.
