Elkins High School’s Logan Phillips puts up a short jumper over Buckhannon-Upshur’s Cameron Workman Friday night at Richard P. Simmons Memorial Gymnasium. Phillips finished with 27 points on the night as the Tigers claimed a 65-44 win over their Big 10 Conference and sectional rival.
The largest lead came at game's end.
Dillion Gaudet and Cody Garrett each had 10 point for the Bucs (4-7, 1-5).
"We looked really good at times and we looked really bad at times," Tigers coach John Lawson said. "We came out really jacked up. It was senior night and we had a really great crowd. Before the game we talked about not getting too jacked up, but they were anyway. We didn't play well in the first half and we turned the ball over a few times. We settled in the second half and started doing the things we like to do. We wore them down and got into a rhythm."
"If we can start getting some games under our belt, I think we will start to come together and play really well."
Elkins will host Lewis County at 7:30 p.m. Monday for a key Big 10 contest, while B-U will visit Preston on the same evening.
