CLARKSBURG - Stephanie Betler scored 17 points to help Class A, No. 3 Tucker County cruise past Notre Dame, 73-31, in non-conference action.

The Lady Mountain Lions opened the game with a 17-0 run and took a 39-17 lead into the locker room at halftime. Betler nailed three consecutive three-pointers in the third quarter to put the game out of reach for the Fighting Irish.

"We came out ready to play," TCHS coach Jim Ambrose said. "We pressed them hard and played a running game. It was a great team effort. We shot the ball a lot better than we did all season. We put in the time, though. The girls practiced shooting on Saturday and it paid off for them. I think we're starting to get there."

Senior Bekah Simmons scored 15 points and Junior Madison Mullenax added 14 points. Aiyana Kachmarek contributed eight rebounds and three blocked shots. Savannah Ambrose scored five points, blocked two shots, grabbed five rebounds and dished out three assists.

Francesca Steele paced the Irish with 12 points. Sophomore Rachel Rogers scored nine points and junior Christina Snodgrass tallied eight points.

Tucker County (13-4) travels to Philip Barbour for a 7:30 p.m. matchup tonight.

LOST CREEK - Kelsey Wyss scored a game-high 14 points Monday to lead Tygarts Valley past South Harrison, 48-21, in non-conference action.

"We played pretty well," TVHS coach Mike DiPasquale said. "I was particularly happy with the defensive effort. Our man pressure got to their ball handlers. That enabled us to get a lot of transition points."

Senior Kelsey Arbogast added 11 points for the Lady Bulldogs. Emily Pingley grabbed 11 rebounds.

Freshman Katie Devericks led the Hawks with eight points. Senior Ashleigh Brosius scored seven points.

Tygarts Valley (11-6) host Pendleton County at 7:30 p.m. today.

NEW MARKET, VA. - Evan Arrington exploded for 27 points to lift Pendleton County over Shenandoah Valley Academy, Va., 71-45, in non-conference action.

"We came out sluggish," PCHS coach Ryan Lambert said. "We don't play many Monday games. We were winning by six at halftime, but we were letting them dictate the momentum of the game. We came out in the second half and used our full court press. That got us going. Ultimately, we got a nice win in the end."

Logan Cooper finished the game with a double-double, scoring 12 points and grabbing 15 rebounds. Haden Fox added 12 points and four rebounds.

Ryan Vandevere paced Shenandoah Valley with 10 points.

Pendleton (12-4) travels to Tygarts Valley for a 7:30 p.m. tipoff Wednesday.
