MILL CREEK - Three Wildcats reached double digits in scoring to power Pendleton County past Tygarts Valley, 50-41, in Potomac Valley Conference action.
The Wildcats held a 26-18 lead at halftime. A big third-quarter effort for the Bulldogs tied the game at 34-34 going into the final stanza. However, Pendleton outscored TVHS, 16-7, in the fourth quarter to seal the win.
"The kids played their hearts out," TVHS coach Tom Wamsley said. "It may have been the best defensive effort we've given all year. We got off to a slow start but we stayed with them. The kids kept their heads in the game. We had momentum going into the fourth quarter, but the kids just ran out of gas. I'm proud of their effort. Pendleton is one of the best teams in the area and we had a chance to pull it out in the fourth quarter. We just wore down."
