ELKINS - Kentucky Wesleyan used a late surge to get past Davis & Elkins, 73-67, Thursday night in G-MAC action at the McDonnell?Center.
The Panthers, who lead the conference with a 12-1 record, led 37-25 at the intermission before the Senators went on a 16-7 run in the second half to cut the margin to 60-46.
But Kentucky Wesleyan used a 15-6 surge of its own, along with four straight free throws by Lonnie Hayes down the stretch, to secure the win.

Hayes and Ken-Jah Bosley each scored 16 points for the Panthers. Domonique Dawson added 12 and Donovan Johnson 10.
The Senators (11-13, 3-8) were led by Devin Miller with 19 points. Kevin Bracy-Davis (16) and Juwan Strothers (14) also reached double figures.
D&E will remain home at 4 p.m. Saturday to face Trevecca Nazarene.
The Panthers will head to Philippi on the same day for a conference showdown against second-place Alderson Broaddus.

Jordan Lykes fired in a career-high 31 points as Davis & Elkins overcame a 10-point second-half deficit to earn the double overtime victory.
Down 80-78, the Senators sent the game into overtime on Lykes' layup as time expired in regulation.
The score remained tied at 88 at the end of the first overtime before D&E took charge in the second extra session.
Lykes also had 15 rebounds on the evening, while Stephanie Wooten added 23 points, Ashley Bowles 13 and Mo Ferebee 12.
Karly Rhoads posted 27 points to lead the Panthers, who led 76-66 in the second half. T'Essence Phelps notched a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds, while Shelbi Tyra and Erin Dorn each scored 12 points.
The Senators, who now stand alone in third place in the G-MAC with a 10-3 league mark, will host Trevecca Nazarene at 2 p.m. Saturday.
Kentucky Wesleyan will travel to Alderson Broaddus at 2 p.m. the same day for a league contest.
